At Nymbl, we want you to feel confident when it comes to your balance. Nymbl is a scientifically-proven¹ balance training program that can improve balance by 30%¹, at home! This is the first article in an 11-week educational series about balance and fall prevention. This week, we’re talking about your strength and balance.
It’s common to experience a natural loss of muscle as you age. Because muscle is often associated with strength, it’s easy to assume that strength is the most important part of your balance. But, you may be surprised to know that strength alone does not stop you from falling.
There are many things that may impact your balance in addition to strength, such as vision, lighting changes, medications, and more. For example, if you need to use your hands to get out of a chair, this may be a sign your coordination has changed, or that your strength has declined.
It’s important to remember that falls are preventable. You can improve your balance and reduce your risk of falling by including balance training into your daily routine. Effective balance training teaches your brain and body to work together, also known as dual-tasking. Dual-tasking challenges you to think and move at the same time, which helps your balance reflexes and better prepares you for the world and its many uncertainties. This is where Nymbl can help. Nymbl is a scientifically-proven¹ approach to fall prevention that makes balance training both fun and effective. Nymbl is fully covered by your health plan and is available at no additional cost to you.
