Nymbl, SCL Health Ink Innovative Falls Prevention Program

Nymbl Science and SCL Health’s Lutheran Medical Center are thrilled to announce their partnership to bring Nymbl’s innovative digital balance system to the Lutheran community. Lutheran is launching a “Friends Don’t Let Friends Fall” program, open to the general public at no charge, which brings together the most current best-practice guidelines for fall prevention, including the innovative Nymbl balance program. The partnership is focused on the network effect of seniors helping seniors and is a truly scalable population health initiative.

In this partnership, SCL will introduce the Nymbl Balance System to their “Friends Don’t Let Friends Fall” classes as a free benefit aimed at reducing falls in their community. Participants will not only be trained to use the Nymbl Software themselves, they will be encouraged to involve their friends in the program who might be at falls risk.  In this way it is expected that the program reaches a significantly greater percent of the population that is at risk for falling.

The program launches in February.

“I want to applaud SCL Health and Lutheran Medical Center for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to their community by bringing cutting-edge innovation to all older adults. We are excited to partner with a Colorado health system that shares our belief that every older adult deserves the very best care,”
Edward Likovich, COO, Nymbl Science

“Lutheran Medical Center’s partnership with Nymbl Science provides a critical element within our community fall prevention strategy.  Together we will promote a community conversation about falls, what is required to prevent them, and the tools needed to stay healthy, strong and flexible.”
Chuck Ault, Regional Director Community Health Improvement, SCL Health

Nymbl, Routinify ink Partnership to bring Nymbl to Routinify clients

Nymbl is excited to enter an agreement with Routinify, who’s “Well-Assist” product uses mobile technology to encourages healthy habits in older adults.  Nymbl will provide its Training App on Routinify tablets. These tablets are used by seniors to help build healthy routines for sufficient sleep, a nutritious diet, preventative care, exercise, hygiene, and mental and social engagement.  Nymbl’s Balance Training will now be a routine encouraged by the system.

Nymbl and Routinify are both headquartered at the Catalyst HTI building in Denver. The partnership was literally initiated by bumping into each other in the lunch room.  We expect many similar deals to arise because of the proximity of over 40 health tech companies under one roof.

Nathan Estrada, Nymbl Director of Sales and Markets, presented to a great audience today during a community event for Boulder Falls Prevention week at the East Boulder Community Center.

It was really a superb opportunity to talk about the science behind falls prevention, demonstrate how the science can now be effective in a smartphone application, and interact with seniors who were interested in falls prevention.

We are always interested in participating in community events about balance and falls prevention, feel free to contact us if you’d have an event you’d like us to participate in!

Nymbl demonstrates significant improvement in stability in just 21 days

In a research study conducted by the MSk lab at Imperial College London and presented recently at the 8th World Congress of Biomechanics conference, Nymbl was shown to significantly improve stability in just 21 days. Sway improvements measured were:

Postural sway area reduced 37%
Sway velocity  reduced 15%
Medio-lateral sway improved 16%
Anterior-posterior sway improved 12%.

This impairment improvement correlated with 15% improvement in balance and an 82% engagement rate during the 21 days.

The study will continue to show improvement over time, but we are thrilled that we continue to accumulate scientific verification of our balance improvement system!

Nymbl Class 2.0 Launching this week!!

Nymbl Class IconWe’re excited to announce the imminent release of Nymbl Class 2.0!  Our Class app, designed for use in a class setting in a senior living environment, includes major new features and literally dozens of improvements requested by our current professional users in ILC’s.  New features include:

  • No wifi required to log in.  Many senior communities have limited wifi in the gym or class areas.  So now an instructor can walk in to the room, connect remotely to the display via Apple TV by literally swiping the screen, and get the class going almost instantly, no matter how bad the data connection in the room is.
  • New “Nymbl Active” track.  Designed for active users to quickly progress in their balance, the new Nymbl Active track is a 14 level program that moves the user from static stability exercises such as half-tandems to 1 leg stands and tandem walks.
  • Landscape mode.  The Class app, which is designed to be projected on a standard TV monitor (via HDMI), is set to always display in landscape mode.  No more turning the phone to get it in the right display mode.
  • Harder/easier exercise options.  In order for the instructor to appeal to the widest audience possible, exercise screens now have suggestions for harder or easier exercises.  So participants can adjust to their own capabilities, and not feel that the class is too easy or too challenging.
  • Cognitive challenges on nearly all exercises.  Our entire system focuses on cognitive dual tasking to optimize balance improvement. We have introduced a new category of dual tasks that enables even more exercises to take advantage of this powerful approach.

These are just the major features.  When we tried it with one of our most active Senior Living Communities last week, we received an email back saying “WOW. We’re loving the new Nymbl interface, it works brilliantly. Thank you!”

We’d love to show this new app, and our other new features in Nymbl 2.0 training and Pro App!  Please see our page on Nymbl in Senior Living Communities, and then contact us for more information!
