Summer is almost here! Throughout the year, especially in cooler geographies, we spend a lot of time indoors. Now, with the sun shining, the trees leafed-out, and the winter coats stored away, the outdoors beckon. You don’t want to pass-up the chance for a walk in the park, a hike in the mountains, a visit to the local arts festival, a picnic with the grandkids, or even a tour of a new city.

The list is extensive! But all this summer fun can increase your exposure to the risk of falling. For many of us, the risk can seem too great to take on.

At Nymbl Science we want to help people improve their quality of life and empower them to do all of these fun activities without the fear of falling and hurting themselves. The loss of balance tends to happen slowly over time, and many of us are unsure whether, or how severely, our balance has deteriorated. As a reference, we came up with these five signs indicating that you should get your balance tested:

– I can’t tie my shoes without sitting on a chair.

– I can’t dry my hair with my eyes closed.

– It is hard for me to get out of a chair without using my hands.

– In the last 30 days, I fell, but I didn’t get hurt.

– I struggle to put my pants on while standing up.

Our research shows an average improvement of 37% on people’s balance after just one month of exercising with the Nymbl App. We work directly with senior living communities and primary care facilities. If you would like to test your balance, we will have our app in the App Store soon – so stay tuned!

Don’t spend the summer cooped-up inside. Get your confidence back, get out there, and get Nymbl.
